The Quality Engineer II is responsible for providing value to the Vitro organization by contributing leadership, planning, and technical knowledge to ensure compliance with Vitro, customer, and governmental quality specifications and regulations.
Responsibilities:Frequent contact with Vitro Program Management, plant and corporate engineering, and manufacturing to develop new products.
Will be assigned more complex tasks requiring greater leadership, knowledge, skill, and expertise from time working in the position.
Coordinating PPAP activities and ensuring accurate and on-time submission to end customers systems.
Performs blue print reviews and develops specification sheets.
Managing all product engineering changes.
Making decisions that are aligned with management objectives regarding work processes, plans, and schedules in order to achieve identified objectives.
Working with corporate supplier quality and may work directly with suppliers to identify problems, conduct root cause investigation using formal root cause tools, implement corrective action, and verify the implemented corrective action is effective. The incumbent also identifies supplier preventive action needs.
Contributing to formal presentations to suppliers, customers, and PGW management.
Participating and ensuring timeliness and accuracy of corrective actions for both internal and external quality issues.
Responding to all customer quality complaints and warranty claims.
Qualifications:The Quality Engineer must have the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, utilize analytical problem solving skills, and efficiently function independently as well as in a team environment.
A Bachelors Degree in Engineering and a minimum of one year engineering experience in supplier quality and continuous improvement programs or equivalent education and experience is required. A strong working knowledge of the quality tools and the ability to draw conclusions based on data procured through the use of formal root cause tools. Strong human relations skills and excellent written and oral communication skills are a necessity. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control and how it applies to product and process capability would be beneficial. Knowledge of APQP (PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, Capability Studies) is required.
